Trip Date and Duration:
The Saskatchewan Section is proud to be hosting a mountaineering camp at Fairy Meadows (Bill Putnam Hut) this summer.  The Camp runs from Sunday July 9th to Sunday July 15th (7 nights).

Trip Make-Up:
The camp has spots for 15 participants (with 4 leaders).

Trip Description:
We intend to do some climbing that may include scrambling, glacier travel, snow travel and rock climbing.

The climbing around the Bill Putnam (Fairy Meadow) Hut is often compared in quality to the popular climbing area of the Bugaboos, but with much smaller crowds. The area is much more isolated and remote and therefore climbing here demands serious commitment. The climbs surrounding the hut vary from shorter routes to full-day objectives on excellent granite, ranging in all grades.

Accommodations will be at the Bill Putnam Hut (we booked the whole hut).  The hut serves as an excellent base to access high-quality pure rock routes, big walls, mixed snow and ice routes, and alpine objectives on peaks over 11,000 feet tall such as the popular Austerity and Adamant Mountains.  The hut has ‘showers’ and quite a bit of room.

Trip Costs:
The cost for the Mountaineering Camp is $600/participant.  This includes the helicopter ride into and out of the hut as well as all hut fees.  As the hut is outside of the National Park, back country permits are not required. The trip is self-catered (you bring your own food).

Trip registration opens on Sunday, March 5, 2017.

This is an intermediate/advanced trip.  There is a minimum fitness requirement (most objectives require 8+ hrs) and previous experience in glaciated and alpine terrain is an asset for participants.

Registrants will be informed (within a week or two) if there is a spot for them and will be instructed how to make the payment to secure the spot (which will be due by Sunday, April 2).
