Trip Date and Duration:
The Saskatchewan Section is proud to be hosting two summer camps at Lake O’Hara this summer.  Camp 1 runs from Sunday July 30th to Thursday August 3rd (5 days, 4 nights).

Trip Make-Up:
This trip has spots for 20 participants (and 4 leaders).  If space is available, participants could combine the two camps together (July 30 – August 3 and August 3-6).

Trip Description:
Lake O’Hara is one of the gems of the Canadian Rockies, situated in Yoho National Park, Lake O’Hara is a secluded valley with a great network of trails and routes throughout the area that visits numerous lakes, viewpoints, and other wonderful places.

The trip is primarily a hiking trip (there is over 40 km of trails, 15 km of which are the famous alpine circuit), where participants can choose their own adventure.  Leaders will be present on the trip to lead small groups on more challenging objectives that are in the area (scrambling, glacier travel, and alpine).

Accommodations will be at the Elizabeth Parker Hut (we booked the whole hut) and we have spots reserved on the bus, so the approach is minimal.  The trip is self-catered and the hut has a great kitchen (since the approach is by bus, the menu items can be fancy, but there is no refrigeration).

Trip Costs:
The cost for Camp 1 (5 days) is $175/participant.  Participants are responsible for purchasing their own Backcountry Permit ($9.80/person/night or $68.70 for the annual permit) and will need to provide proof of Permit to the Park’s staff before getting on the bus.  If permits are purchased through the ACC, a portion of the cost goes to the ACC.

Trip registration opens on Sunday, March 5, 2017. Registrants will select which Camp they want to sign-up for (if available/interested for both, registrants should indicate their preference and if interested in doing both camps).  Registrants will be informed (within a week or two) if there is a spot for them and will be instructed how to make the payment to secure the spot (which will be due by Sunday, April 2).

Registration is now Closed.
