Rock Climbing in Skaha
May 11 - May 15
Join us on our rock climbing trip to the Skaha Provincial Park near Penticton BC. Participants would only need to have an interest in climbing. We will start from the basic skills level on this trip.
Activities will focus on top rope rock climbing. Leaders will review and deliver content on everything from putting on a harness, helmet, and rock shoes to proper belay technique (top rope and lead). Participants will be coached on their climbing skills. Other skills to be considered are starting to lead sport (quick draw use and anchor building) and trad climbing (placing trad gear). Opportunities to learn rappelling will also be offered.
Participants are responsible to organize and fund their own travel, accommodations, and meals. Travel to Penticton can either be by car or by air. There are flights into both Kelowna and Penticton. Once all of the participants and leaders are confirmed we will share contact information to allow everyone to connect and share travel, accommodation, and meals if desired.
You should be at a good level of fitness to enjoy a day of rock climbing.
Participants that do not have necessary rock climbing gear (harness, belay device, helmet, shoes) would indicate that during the application process. If our section cannot provide gear the individual may need to seek out equipment via their own means.
This trip has a participant fee of $20/participant.
